Lions Post Strong Marks at Golden Gate Track Fest

 

De Anza College turned in a solid day of competition at at San Francisco State's Golden Gate Track Fest, with the Mountain Lions earning an event win, a relay title, and several top-eight finishes across the sprints and middle-distance events.

On the women's side, Sarah Morales delivered the top finish of the day for De Anza, winning the 400 meters in 1:02.24. Morales also added a strong performance in the 200 meters, placing fifth in 26.86.

The Mountain Lions also got a runner-up finish from Naomi Seastrom in the 400-meter hurdles, where she placed second in 1:07.94. Seastrom also competed in the 200 meters, finishing 10th in 29.35.

In the women's 100 meters, Emma Ulloa led De Anza with a sixth-place finish in 13.49, followed by Lauren Geng in 11th at 14.40 and Nina Smith in 14th at 14.96. In distance events, Erika Pham placed 27th in the 800 meters in 2:47.56, while Corinne Thelen and Nathaly Bernal represented De Anza in the 3000 meters, finishing in 11:18.21 and 11:38.99, respectively.

The De Anza men were led by a strong group effort in the sprint events. In the 100 meters, Roman Johnson placed fourth in 11.42, Reign Garma was fifth in 11.43, and Enoch Mak took seventh in 11.58. Nathaniel Tiernan, Ryan Perez, and Dylan Maskiewicz also contributed solid efforts for the Mountain Lions.

In the 200 meters, Fabian Oduk paced De Anza with a fifth-place finish in 23.24. Garma added a 14th-place showing in 23.95, while Aidan Shelley, Enoch Mak, Ryan Perez, Dylan Maskiewicz, and Nathaniel Tiernan also scored valuable experience in a deep field.

Oduk also led the men in the 400 meters, placing sixth in 51.60. He was followed by Shelley in 13th at 54.18, Ike Weidman in 14th at 54.81, Omar Shaaban in 15th at 55.56, and Noah Deleon in 18th at 57.88.

In the 800 meters, Anthony Dianda posted the top De Anza finish with a time of 2:03.79, while Jayden Franco, Toby Huynh, and Jerry Dang also competed for the Lions. Dang returned in the 1500 meters and finished in 4:22.01, joined by teammates Roee Biluar and Lenny Cortes. In the men's 3000 meters, Brandon Phan crossed in 10:24.34.

De Anza also came away with a relay victory, as the Mountain Lions won the men's 4x100 relay in 44.54.

The Lions will look to build on the performance as the outdoor season continues next week.
