Lions Continue Early Season Progress

 

Women's Highlights

Sophomore Genesis Mailangi led the De Anza women with another dominant showing in the throws. Mailangi captured first place in the shot put (12.09m) and first place in the discus (38.59m). She also contributed a fourth-place finish in the javelin (23.83m).

The De Anza women also won the 4x100 relay, as Junya Zeng, Sarah Morales, Naomi Seastrom, and Emma Ulloa combined to run 51.08 for the victory.

In the individual sprints, freshman Junya Zeng placed fifth in the 100 meters (12.93) and seventh in the 200 meters (26.88). Sophomore Sarah Morales followed closely with 13.12 in the 100 meters and 26.97 in the 200 meters.

Freshman Naomi Seastrom added solid sprint performances, running 13.61 in the 100 meters and 27.65 in the 200 meters, while Emma Ulloa posted 13.65 in the 100 meters and 28.54 in the 200 meters.

Freshman Kayli Hrvatin also competed in both sprints, finishing 14.21 in the 100 meters and 30.07 in the 200 meters.

In the 400 meters, freshman Angelina Perez represented the Lions with a time of 1:12.28.

In the throws, freshman Annabella Gatchalian competed in the shot put with a mark of 7.61m, while sophomore Sapphire Fox-Araya added a third-place finish in the discus (36.96m).

 

Men's Highlights

The De Anza men's sprint group showed strong depth in the 100 meters, led by Jordan McKinney, who finished 15th overall in 11.38. He was followed by Fabian Oduk (11.45) and Omar Shaaban (11.50).

Additional De Anza competitors in the event included Reign Garma (11.62), Nathaniel Tiernan (11.92), Noah Deleon (12.09), Zayveon Ross (12.10), Aidan Shelley (12.14), Ryan Perez (12.20), Dylan Maskiewicz (12.43), Leo Mendieta Torres (12.64), Allan Rojas Munoz (12.65), Leon Kovaci (12.89), and Gustavo Testolin.

In the 200 meters, Oduk again led the De Anza group with 22.98, while teammates Anthony Dianda (23.63), Reign Garma (23.63), and Jordan McKinney (24.21) also produced solid performances.

The De Anza middle-distance group competed across multiple events. Freshman Anthony Dianda ran 52.67 in the 400 meters, while Keaton Wong (54.96) and Jayden Franco (55.42) also competed in the event.

In the 1500 meters, Wong also ran 25.20 in the 200 meters earlier in the meet as part of De Anza's large sprint contingent.

The De Anza men's 4x100 relay team of Enoch Mak, Jordan McKinney, Ryan Perez, and Omar Shaaban placed sixth with a time of 44.79.

A second Lions relay team consisting of Zayveon Ross, Fabian Oduk, Aidan Shelley, and Allan Rojas Munoz finished seventh in 46.36.
