Lions Open Conference Season At Home
As De Anza College men's basketball opens the conference portion of the 2025–26 season, the Mountain Lions do so with a strong foundation built during non-conference play.
De Anza enters Coast-North action with a 6-8 overall record, including a balanced 3–2 mark at home - and an offense averaging 85.8 points per game (third best in NorCal).
Leading the way is sophomore wing Theo McDowell, who has emerged as one of the conference's most productive players.
McDowell ranks second in the division, averaging 19.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game - while shooting an efficient 54.1% from the field and 82.2% from the free-throw line.
Sophomore guard Mehki Thomas adds another scoring threat at 16.2 points per game (fifth in the division), along with 6.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists, providing versatility on both ends of the floor.
Freshman guard Gio Brovelli has delivered instant offense, averaging 12.0 points per game.
De Anza's depth has been a key strength, with the team totaling 15.8 assists per game and converting 78.5% at the free-throw line.
Defensively, the Mountain Lions average over 10 steals per game, using pressure and pace to create scoring opportunities.
With conference play starting Wednesday against No. 1 CCSF and Friday at No. 7 Las Positas, De Anza looks contend for a posteason berth in the final 14 games of the season.
