Bio

Gerald "G" Taberdo joined De Anza College as Athletic Trainer in June of 2026.
 
Taberdo previously served as Assistant Athletic Trainer at NCAA Division-II Menlo College (2024-2026).
 
At Menlo, he oversaw injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and collaborates with physicians and sports medicine professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
He also managed athletic training facility operations, medical administration, and serves as the primary contact for clinic needs.
Taberdo was part of an athletic training staff that served more than 500 student-athletes from 15 intercollegiate programs and five non-NCAA sports.
Prior to Menlo, Taberdo gained experience as an athletic trainer fellow at UC Berkeley and as an assistant athletic trainer with the Bay Area Panthers, contributing to a championship-level environment for indoor professional football.
He also previously served as an intern for the Sacramento State football team and the G-League’s Ontario Clippers.
Taberdo's background includes extensive clinical experience across other collegiate programs – including Long Beach State, UCLA Club Sports, Cypress College, and Mt. San Antonio College.
Taberdo earned his M.S. in Athletic Training from Long Beach State, where his graduate research focused on chronic ankle instability and athlete performance; and his B.S. in Kinesiology (Exercise Science) from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
During his graduate studies, he served as the Southern California Student Graduate Representative for the Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee (EDAC) where he was an advocate for cultural competence and relations within the sports medicine field.
Originally from Houston and raised in Los Angeles, Taberdo is a product of the California community college system. He played basketball at Glendale Community College and Cuesta College, where he earned an Associate of Arts for Transfer degree.
As a Certified Athletic Trainer, Taberdo is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
He holds multiple certifications in advanced treatment techniques, emergency care, and athlete safety.
Taberdo states that his “mission is to learn and grow as a healthcare provider in the interest of preventing injuries, promoting higher quality of life, increasing cultural competence of patients in various backgrounds, and improving administrative duties of an athletic trainer.”
